The Oscars might be about movies, but this year – much like last – will spotlight plenty of high-wattage music stars.

Dave Grohl has been confirmed for a “special performance,” though details remain under wraps. The Foo Fighters frontman does have some cinematic experience as well as being a monster drummer and hair-flailing guitarist – he directed the 2013 documentary “Sound City.”

Best Original Song nominees The Weeknd (“Earned It”), Sam Smith (“Writing’s on the Wall”) and Lady Gaga (“Til It Happens to You”) are also set to sing at Sunday’s ceremony, though Gaga’s co-writer on the song, Diane Warren, has said she’ll be in the audience watching, not onstage performing.

Pharrell Williams – a 2014 Oscar nominee for “Happy” — will also be on site, and John Legend, last year’s Best Original Song winner, is set to present.

The Oscars air at 8 p.m. on ABC.

Here’s a look back at Gaga’s inspiring “Sound of Music” tribute at last year’s ceremony.
